Most hospital OPDs close by 5 PM. That leaves a lot of people in Kondapur, Madhapur and Hitech City with a cough they keep meaning to get checked, and no time in the working day to do it. Breathe Well was set up for them: a lung and allergy clinic that opens in the evening, close to where they live and work.
It’s the same doctor patients see at Apollo Hospitals, Financial District during the day. When a patient needs a bronchoscopy, a hospital admission or a procedure, it’s arranged at Apollo, and the follow-up visits can come back to Kondapur.
An evening lung clinic for people who can't take a day off
If you’re a working professional, a parent doing the school run, or someone looking after older parents, a daytime hospital appointment often means losing half a day to traffic and waiting. Breathe Well’s evening OPD works around that:
- Come after work. The clinic is about ten minutes from most Hitech City and Madhapur offices along Botanical Garden Road.
- Tests on the same visit. Spirometry and most breathing tests are done in the clinic, so there’s no second trip to a lab.
- Follow-ups that fit a routine. Asthma, allergy and sleep apnea need regular reviews. Evening slots make it easier to actually keep those appointments.

Asthma and allergy doctor in Kondapur
Allergies are one of the main reasons people come to Breathe Well. That’s no surprise. In a 2025 Indian study of more than 40,000 patients who saw a doctor for nasal symptoms, 53.7% had allergic rhinitis (nasal allergy). The same paper cites Indian survey data showing that two-thirds or more of people with asthma also have nasal allergies. The nose and the lungs are one airway, and treating only one of them is a common reason symptoms keep coming back.
This clinic treats breathing and nasal allergies. For skin allergies such as rashes, hives or eczema, a dermatologist is the right specialist.
Dust allergy and recurrent sneezing
Morning sneezing fits, a runny or blocked nose, and itchy eyes. These are often triggered by house dust mites, which thrive in mattresses, pillows and curtains, and get worse with air-conditioning that isn’t cleaned regularly. Treatment combines identifying the trigger, a nasal spray used correctly, and practical changes at home.
Sinus allergy and post-nasal drip
A constant need to clear the throat, a cough that gets worse when you lie down, and mucus dripping down the back of the throat. Post-nasal drip is one of the most common causes of a cough that lasts for months.
Asthma in adults
Wheezing, a tight chest, and a night-time cough. In some people the only symptom is a dry cough with no wheeze at all, called cough-variant asthma. Asthma is confirmed with spirometry or a FeNO test, and treated with inhalers matched to how often symptoms occur. Getting the inhaler technique right is half the treatment.
Allergic bronchitis
“Bronchitis” that comes back every season, especially when the weather changes. Repeated courses of antibiotics don’t help, because the cause is airway inflammation, not infection.
Allergy testing and immunotherapy
When the trigger isn’t obvious, allergy tests help: skin prick tests or a blood IgE test. For people with persistent dust-mite or pollen allergy, allergen immunotherapy can reduce sensitivity over time. It’s done under a doctor’s supervision.
Other lung problems seen at the clinic
- Chronic cough. A cough lasting more than eight weeks. Post-nasal drip, asthma and acid reflux are the commonest causes, and each is treated differently.
- COPD. Long-term airflow blockage, usually from smoking, cooking smoke or dust. Diagnosed with spirometry and managed with inhalers, vaccination and pulmonary rehabilitation.
- Breathlessness. Getting out of breath on stairs or while walking. The cause can be the lungs, the heart, anaemia or fitness, and the tests sort out which.
- Pneumonia and lung infections. Treating infections that can be managed at home, and follow-up after a hospital stay.
- Post-COVID and post-infection lung problems. A cough or breathlessness that lingers for weeks or months after an infection.
- Tuberculosis. Diagnosis and treatment of TB, latent TB screening (IGRA or Mantoux test) before starting some medicines, and care for lung damage after TB.
- ILD, lung nodules and lung cancer. Specialist opinion and planning. When a bronchoscopy or biopsy is needed, it’s done at Apollo Hospitals, Financial District.
- Second opinion on a chest X-ray or CT report. Bring the CD, not just the printed report.
- Lung fitness before surgery. For patients asked by their surgeon or anaesthetist to get lung clearance.
Breathing tests done at Breathe Well, Kondapur
| Test | What it tells the doctor | |
|---|---|---|
| Spirometry (PFT) | Whether the airways are narrowed, as in asthma and COPD, and whether that narrowing reverses with medicine | |
| Complete lung function (lung volumes, DLCO) | Lung size and how well oxygen passes into the blood. Used in ILD and unexplained breathlessness | Kondapur or Apollo? |
| FeNO test | Measures airway inflammation from a breath sample; helps confirm asthma and guide steroid inhalers | |
| Bronchial provocation (challenge) test | Checks for asthma when spirometry is normal but symptoms suggest it | |
| Cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET) | Separates lung, heart and fitness causes of breathlessness | confirm |
| Arterial blood gas (ABG) | Oxygen and carbon dioxide levels in the blood | |
| Allergy tests (skin prick / blood IgE) | Identifies allergy triggers | confirm |
| IGRA / Mantoux | Screens for latent TB | |
| Sleep study (home sleep test) | Checks for sleep apnea at home, in your own bed | confirm home test offered |
| Blood tests | Routine and specialist blood work, collected at the clinic |
Done at Apollo Hospitals, Financial District instead: bronchoscopy, EBUS, lung biopsy, thoracoscopy, in-lab overnight sleep studies, CT scans and hospital admission.
Getting ready for spirometry in the evening
The clinic will tell you what to do when you book. As a general guide, based on the ATS/ERS technical standard for spirometry:
- Don’t smoke for at least an hour beforehand.
- Avoid a heavy meal in the two hours before.
- Wear loose clothing.
- Ask whether to skip your reliever inhaler before the test. Never stop a regular medicine unless the doctor tells you to.
The test itself takes 15–30 minutes.
Sleep clinic: snoring, sleep apnea and CPAP
Loud snoring, a partner who notices you stop breathing at night, waking with a headache, and falling asleep in meetings or in traffic. These are the classic signs of obstructive sleep apnea. An AIIMS New Delhi analysis estimated that about 11% of Indian adults have it, and most are never diagnosed.
At Breathe Well:
- Assessment of snoring, daytime sleepiness and insomnia
- Home sleep test to diagnose sleep apnea. In-lab studies are arranged at Apollo where needed
- CPAP and BiPAP: mask fitting, pressure settings, and follow-up visits to check the machine data, which is where most CPAP treatment succeeds or fails

Children's lung and allergy care
Children with a cough that comes back with every cold, wheezing, snoring, or a suspected asthma diagnosis are seen at the clinic. For children who can manage it, breathing tests such as spirometry and FeNO are done in the clinic.
- Childhood asthma and recurrent wheezing
- Chronic and recurrent cough
- Nasal allergies in children
- Snoring and sleep apnea in children
- Pneumonia and chest infections
Paediatrician at the clinic: Dr. Harshasree G, for general child health and vaccinations.
Flu and pneumococcal vaccination
For people with asthma, COPD or other lung conditions, adults over 60, and people with diabetes or heart disease, vaccines are part of lung care, not an extra.
- Flu vaccine: given every year.
- Pneumococcal vaccine: protects against a common cause of pneumonia; the schedule depends on age and health.
Both are given at the clinic.
General physician at the clinic
Dr. Sandeep Ghanta sees patients for fevers and infections (including dengue, malaria and typhoid), and for ongoing diabetes, blood pressure and thyroid care. Breathing problems that turn out to need a specialist are referred to Dr. Kishan in the same clinic.
